Woah baby it’s cold outside in Chicago. But it’s also a great time to go ice skating at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park. It’s fun to go with friends and a perfect date idea if you go with your boyfriend. She Fancies getting all bundled up to brave the cold!

Kicking off Chicago’s winter season, the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park is now open and will remain open through Sunday, March 13, 2011. The rink is free and open to the public. Skate rental is available for $10. The ice rink is located on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Streets.

When you think of gin, what brand comes to mind? When you think of a super premium gin, what brand comes to mind. You should be answering Oxley Gin to the above questions! She Fancies learning about different spirits and experiencing the liquid neat, on the rocks and mixed.

Last Thursday night, Oxley Gin invited me to an exclusive tasting at Sable Kitchen and Bar in Chicago. I was joined by media, local influencers and tastemakers from around the city at this super premium event.

I was delighted to attend since I’m not that familiar with gin and definitely wanted to learn more about the spirit. Afterall, a LOT of my friends drink gin or are looking to fill their liquor cabinet with something shiny and new.

In case you didn’t know, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup this week. It’s great to have a reason to celebrate in Chicago – especially when it comes to Sports – and today the parade was downtown. There were 2 MILLION fans celebrating. She Fancies occasions when people get together and celebrate!

(It was a terrible day to commute and get to work this morning, but all was forgotten.)

In case you didn’t notice, I was away from my computer much of last week which resulted in zero blog posts and minimal tweets. I was in West Hollywood for an event for my client earlier in the week and then returned to Chicago just in time for the Sweets and Snacks Expo – followed by a long weekend off. She Fancies warm weather, traveling, and long weekends off!

Just a few more months until the famed Chicago musical festival, Lollapalooza, is dominating the Chicago area. This year they are expanding their landscape space and tacking on an additional 35 acres for another stage to accommodate various bands. That means more than 95,000 music lovers will be heading to Grant Park. She Fancies music festivals and going with friends!

Hopefully I’ll be receiving my golden tickets soon since I was one of the lucky ones to snag the three-day $60 passes earlier on.

Today’s Thirsty Thursday is perfect for the Chicagoan that has been able to stroll down Michigan Ave. and view the nearly 200,000 tulips planted along the mag mile. She Fancies flowers and the scene on Michigan Avenue is astounding. Many of the tulips are in their prime the first week of May (including the elegant “Tulipa Maggie Daley”) and now is the perfect time to enjoy this magnificent splash of color on the Avenue. “Tulipa Maggie Daley,” which took 12 years to create, is a cross between a pink and lily flowering tulip.
